HEARING SERVICES AND AUDIOLOGY

Audiologic testings are available in Dr. Namdar's main office on West 59th Street. Most tests can be performed in conjunction with a visit in the office.

1. Hearing test can differentiate the exact reason and degree for any patient's hearing problems. It would also help to distinguish between the reversible and nonreversible types of hearing problems. A typical hearing test would also include study of ear reflexes as well as pressures of the eardrum.

2. Hearing aid evaluation is recommended when the patient has suffered a nonreversible type of hearing loss. There are a variety of hearing aid devices available in Dr. Namdar's office. A typical half hour consultation with the hearing aid dispenser will determine which type of hearing device is most appropriate for your needs. The appointment itself is non-obligatory and Dr. Namdar often recommends an initial evaluation even if your current degree of hearing loss is not severe enough to warrant hearing aid right way.

3. Additional audiologic testings including ABR, OAE, and ENG are available to further study the function of the inner ear.

4. Dizziness is a very debilitating disease for the patient and their families. In general, dizziness could be attributed to diseases of the inner ear, causes associated with the heart and blood vessels, or causes associated with the brain and the nerves connecting to it. After initial evaluation and physical exam in the office, Dr. Namdar may recommend additional diagnostic tests to detect the source of your dizziness. If you have performed such tests elsewhere prior to the first visit with us, kindly bring the results with you for evaluation.
